The new science behind photophobia and migraines!
Until recently, it hasn’t been clear how light becomes a painful stimulus. Now we understand that certain photosensitive retinal cells play a major role in transforming light that is too bright into painful sensations. This photophobia is associated with a number of conditions including migraines and even dry eyes.
Axon Optics FL-41 eyeglass lenses block light around 480 nm which stimulates the same retinal cells responsible for those painful light sensitive situations. This FL-41 technology shows we can actually make these patients feel better by using optical filters that block this wavelength of light before it gets to the retina.
Although some FL-41 tinted lenses appear rose colored and are very soothing, Axon Optics FL-41 has developed a unique film instead of using a colored dye that causes very little color distortion while filtering out the same wavelengths of irritating light. Axon Optics also has indoor and outdoor filters to cover most patients’ lifestyles and provide maximum comfort in a wide variety of lighting conditions.
Axon Optics FL-41 lenses are available in prescription as well non-prescription lenses. Single vision, bifocal and trifocal as well as progressive and super-thin lenses are available. The Axon Optics FL-41 process can also be put on Transitions® Adaptive Lenses. Whatever your vision and lifestyle needs, patients need no longer suffer from light that is too irritating and causing these painful sensations. Come in and see the Axon Optics FL-41 filter lenses and “see” how they can help you today! We are open to the public and accept all eyeglass prescriptions.
