The Test

ocularAt Margolis Vision, we administer a safe, efficient and accurate allergy Skin Test. This entails a method of testing for allergic antibodies in which small amounts of suspected substance or allergen is introduced into the skin. From there, the specialist at Margolis Vision will note the development of a positive reaction, usually resulting in swelling, or a flare in the surrounding area of redness. The results are read 15 to 20 minutes after the application of the allergen, in which the patient will know exactly what substance or allergen is causing their reaction.

If an individual has a specific allergic sensitivity to one of the allergens, a red, itchy bump will appear on the skin within 15 minutes of receiving the Skin Test. These positive reactions will gradually disappear over a period of 30 to 60 minutes, and typically, no treatment is necessary for this itchiness although Margolis Vision, in Lone Tree, does offer topical anti-itch medication in order to alleviate any discomfort.

It only takes 20 minutes to start receiving results, and you will be on your road to recovery in no time! Take the time to receive proper diagnoses of your allergies, so that we can determine which treatment protocol will benefit you!
