Ocular Surface Diseases are disorders that affect the surface of the cornea. These diseases can severely affect eyesight and quality of life. If you or anyone you know are experiencing any of the following symptoms: blurry vision, eye pain or discomfort, redness and itching, watery eyes, or corneal scarring, it is imperative to take the initial steps towards diagnosis and treatment. Often times, cases go undiagnosed and untreated, due to a lack of understanding of the severity of this disease. As people are living longer lives, this disease is becoming more and more prevalent, and is having detrimental affects on individual’s eyesight and comfort.
Fortunately, an effective diagnosis, care and management of ocular surface diseases can occur within the Margolis Vision office. We offer state-of-the-art technology, such as the LipiView Ocular Surface Interferometer as part of a full dry eye assessment. Receiving the LipiView technology is essential in order for Dr. Margolis to properly diagnose and treat patient’s Ocular Surface Disease. What is LipiView?
The LipiView technology determines the type of dry eye a patient may have by identifying lipid layer deficiency, which is the most common cause of dry eye. In other words, LipiView takes an assessment of the thickness of an individual’s tear film, which is extremely important in determining the state of a patient’s disease. Additionally, the LipiView technology captures a patient’s blinking pattern, providing Dr. Margolis with the ability to identify patients who are partial blinkers, a condition that affects the health of the eye’s ocular surface.
With LipiView, Dr. Margolis and his support team are able to have nanometer precision in measuring critical oils needed to support a healthy tear film. This technology is crucial in evaluating a patient’s dry eye levels, and subsequently developing a treatment strategy while also monitoring a patient’s progress.
It is our objective at Margolis Vision, to be able to provide our patients with the best treatment and therapies for a highly prevalent, chronic and progressive disease. LipiView is a great tool for patients who need guidance and support with their dry eye. We hope to deliver upon patient satisfaction, excellent customer service, and of course, the health of your eyes by providing state-of-the-art equipment, such as the LipiView technology.
